All set for the laying of the foundation stone, as Amazon has secured all the necessary permissions to build an International delivery facility in Hyderabad, which will become the ecommerce giants 2nd largest facility outside of America.
The centre at GachiBowli will reportedly measure 29 lakh square feet, with a 10 acre IT campus. It will be utilised for Amazon’s global operational assistance and also strengthen its presence in Cloud and web solutions in India.
- The building is likely to be completed by 2018
- The facility is expected to hold a capacity of 14,000 workers
New neighbour on the block
In 2015, Amazon set up a fulfilment centre in Hyderabad, besides a further two in the state of Telangana and concluded the environment to conduct business to be cordial. Amazon, who currently rents office space in India will be in good company as its new proposed project will be in close proximity to software and technology juggernauts such as Infosys, Wipro, CA Technologies, Microsoft andGoogle’s upcoming facility.
“We have got them all the permissions required to set up the facility. With this, we have the entire major IT, digital and e-commerce companies in Hyderabad. Apple also coming to the city in a big way. Amazon is planning an investment of Rs. 1,000 crore to develop the facility,” stated a government official close to the proceedings.
