Amazon ‘India’s Buzziest Brand’; Flipkart ‘Online Media champ’

It’s always nice to receive reward and recognition from peers and the public. A seal of approval of a job well done. In the world of ecommerce, ratings and awards are a fine way for the big online marketplaces to gain one-upmanship over the other. Be it google rankings, most trusted brand, most preferred etailer, app traffic or even desktop traffic, anything and everything constitutes bragging rights.

The awards resulted from a mix of an online poll and a group of judges. The 1,420 public voters carried 70% weightage and could choose their top 5 brands who they felt created the most buzz.
A panel of 5 eminent judges had a 30% influential say in the final outcome. For example, Amazon had finished 4th in the online vote, but was pulled up to 1st by three judges. Likewise, Flipkart was 5th in the online poll, but with the impact of 2 judges, it moved up to 2nd place. Snapdeal has the most to thank the judges for, as it was ushered up from 20th position to 8th place, backed by 2 judges.
The jury included Anuradha Aggarwal (chief marketing officer, Marico), Pradeep Dwivedi (chief corporate sales & marketing officer, Dainik Bhaskar Group), Sudhanshu Vats (Group CEO, Viacom 18), Ashish Bhasin (chairman and CEO, South Asia, Dentsu Aegis Network) and Satbir Singh (founder and chief creative officer, Thinkstr).
