The latest in the list of collaborations is between Amazon and Urban Ladder. The home and lifestyle company has opened a store on the marketplace. Ashish Goel, co-founder and CEO of Urban Ladder said,
“The common ground for both Urban Ladder and Amazon was the principle of customer obsession. Amazon has been seen as an online powerhouse which shoppers have been increasingly gravitating towards. This platform will give us the accessibility to leverage multiple channels and offer new customers an experience of shopping for furniture online.”
Sumit Sahay, Director Category Management, Amazon India said,
“The furniture category on Amazon.in has been witnessing a tremendous sales growth of over 8X since last year. With festive shopping commencing soon, customers on Amazon.in will now be able to purchase an enhanced range of offerings in the furniture and home décor and enjoy fast and reliable doorstep delivery.”
Currently the store will have 300 items including furniture and mattresses. Urban Ladder will add 400 curated items in the next round. For now, the store on Amazon will be available to shoppers in ten cities including Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi.
The company will fulfill orders coming via Amazon through its own channels.

Counter move to meet competitors

The company’s rival Pepperfry recently announced the second phase of experience studios in non-metro cities. Experts feel that joining hands with Amazon might also be an indication that all is not well with Urban Ladder.
The move is likely to be in the best interest of both parties. Amazon is trying to keep pace with Flipkart, which has big dreams in the home décor segment.
