Amazon Audible Suno sees a winning story

Amazon Audible Suno sees a winning storyBengaluru: Technology giant Amazon’s audiobook company Audible has launched a new app called Audible Suno in India featuring original audio series, in a bid to expand its reach in India’s highly competitive digital entertainment and streaming space.

This new platform will feature hundreds of hours of Audible’s original audio series across a plethora of genres, helmed by entertainers such as Amitabh Bachchan, Anurag Kashyap, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tabu, Neena Gupta and Vir Das.

The app is free and comes without ads for now unlike its parent’s subscription-based audiobook app, which was launched in India last year.

“India has a deep pool of creative professionals. It does not hurt the penetration of sophisticated phones into the hands of India. Those numbers don’t exist anywhere. There are so many people who can listen to this, have a private listening experience because of phonesets in their pockets,” said Don Katz, CEO and Founder of Audible.

Audible is deepening its presence into an already crowded content market with plethora of podcast options and videostreaming apps, including Amazon Prime.

“When we get great ideas in India we can take them to other countries we go to,” Katz said.
