Amazon has reason to cheer, as Indian shoppers have declared the website to be the most preferred. In a survey conducted by online shopping forum DesiDime, it shows that the US based online marketplace has toppled Indian origin Flipkart from the position of most preferred. The survey further goes on to say that 80% of the shoppers surveyed preferred to shop online.
Electronics top the list; men more avid shoppers than women
The survey was conducted on a group of roughly 2000 respondents. 56% of those surveyed said that they are more comfortable shopping online using their laptops or desktops. Electronic gadgets (like mobiles, laptops etc.) figure on the top of the shopping list, followed by apparel. The study also found that the number of men who shopped online was greater than the number of women.
The survey found that social media was a great influencing factor, with more than half of the respondents saying that social media affected their purchases.
Credit cards top payment options
Most shoppers in metro cities preferred to pay using credit cards, observed the survey. Non- metro shoppers opted for debit cards or net banking.
Amazon leads as the favourite marketplace
Respondents have voted for Amazon as the most trusted marketplace. The company’s aggressive marketing, attractive offers and robust customer care has helped in ousting its major rival from the top spot. Other marketplaces will do well to take a leaf from Amazon’s book. Building trust in customers is not an easy job, but it seems to be easy to lose the favoured position.
