Amazon India ties up with Vakrangee to fill last-mile gaps in rural areas

Vakrangee Ltd, which provides financial and other services in rural India, has announced a strategic tie-up with Amazon India to provide marketing, promotional and pick up services to the latter through the 'Vakrangee Kendras'.

Vakrangee has been building an ecosystem of small outlets to fill the last-mile gap for retail firms in rural areas. It provides the last-mile link connecting India's rural citizens with its modern ecosystem through the retail network of Vakrangee Kendra. 

The company has over 35,000 business correspondent bank branches through which it also offers insurance, e-commerce and e-governance services.

"Vakrangee Kendras shall perform marketing and promotional activities which shall include not limiting to introducing and informing customers entering Vakrangee Kendras of and about the Amazon India website, informing and promoting the products available, ensuring that the purchase and confirmation message is successfully received by the customer, following up on the order placed by the customer, if necessary," Vakrangee Ltd said in a statement with the Bombay Stock Exchange.

" We shall also provide pick up services to Amazon India for the products ordered by the customers across India," the company added.

Financial details of the tie-up were not disclosed.
