Coconut shell sold on Amazon website for Rs 1,365; netizens not amused

Online shopping has changed the way people buy products as just with a click you can get deliveries from local to international markets. Icing on the cake are those ‘heavy’ discounts that the e-commerce platforms offer. But, is this really the case for everyone?

Recently, a customer tried ordering natural coconut shell cups from e-commerce giant Amazon. Now, how much will you pay for a product like this? Whatever it may be, we bet you will not pay Rs 1,365. Yes, you read it correct. One of the sellers on Amazon was selling this ‘actual, real, coconut’ shell cup at Rs 1,365.

Seeing the price, Amazon user Mathew Thomas posted to Twitter asking help from Amazon to check who ‘this seller who is selling #Natural Coconut Shell Cup for Rs 1,365?’. “We buy coconut for 35 RS and in #Kerala we don't pay. How natural can this be than the one that we buy?”, the aggrieved customer said.

Taking note of the incident, Amazon replied back and said “Thank you for flagging this to us. Please be informed that we've already escalated this to our concerned team internally for a review.”

Critically mocking the price, one of the Twitterati responded, “AMAZON BLOCKBUSTER DEAL ** (Limited Period offer. Grab it soon before the stock lasts ! )”.
