It is finally that time of the year when e-commerce websites are not just raining discounts, but are really coming down with hard-to-miss deals and offers on a range of products - from fashion and home decor to electronics and large appliances. However this year, sale days have taken a different contour.
The summer sale marks the first one after the Flipkart-Walmart deal, which has redrawn and in some ways upset the startup e-commerce landscape. Both leading online platforms Flipkart and Amazon India are launching their four-day summer sales today which promise competitive pricing across a broad portfolio of products. It is, however, not limited to these two slugging it out.
Snapdeal, which is believed to be making a comeback - after its merger deal with Flipkart failed last year - also jumped into the fray by announcing its 'Mega Deals Festival' starting today and running till May 15.
"Competition is going to intensify to the benefit of the consumer," feels Chairman of Aarin Capital Partners and former board member at Infosys, T V Mohandas Pai. "Better price discovery can be expected - this game of e-commerce has no winners unless they are able to get a reasonable price," he adds.
Flipkart's 'Big Shopping Days' assures massive price drops on mobiles, laptops, TVs, apparel, beauty, furniture and more across a wide selection comprising "80 million products". Top offers include the lowest price ever on Samsung on Max from Rs 16,900 to just Rs 11,900. Additionally, there is up to 80% off on fashion and electronics and up to 70% off on large appliances like TVs and ACs.
The 'Amazon Summer Sale' is also offering great deals on mobiles including Rs 12,000 off on Samsung handsets, popular ebooks and electronics at half the retail price and like Flipkart, up to 80% off on fashion.
