While other online etailers obsess over private labels and profitability, Infibeam has teamed up with the IT division of Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Company, that is (n) Code Solutions. Based on the partnership agreement, Infibeam will develop a distributed online marketplace to help Gujarat SMEs to sell their goods and services online.
Snapdeal’s ecommerce platform, Shopo, was also launched to help small and medium-sized sellers to build businesses through the digital world. It allowed low cost online retail with zero commissions. However, Shopo was compelled to shut shop due to the intense ecommerce environment. The etailer announced it is pausing its ecommerce to take stock of things and plan its next move. So, how will Infibeam avoid its project for Gujarat SMEs from ending in the same way?

New channel offerings

The service agreement mentions that (n) Code Solutions will:
  • Provide an online retail platform for Gujarat SMEs
  • Offer training support to SMEs
(n) Code Solutions offers digital certificates that integrate well with applications like emails, workflow, etc. to governments, corporates and individuals for secure B2B and B2C applications online and other digital transactions.
This distributed marketplace from Infibeam will allow sellers to do more than sell products and services. It will offer them their own branded e-store on a ‘.ooo’ domain. This is a registered domain of Infibeam for around 2-3 years now. Merchants will also have access to integrated payment solutions inclusive of wallets to collect payment, the services of logistics companies to have products delivered and third party marketplace integration for added retail business.
More value added services will also be available on the platform to encourage demand and sales of the registered SMEs from Gujarat.
