Along with the heat-wave, Indian ecommerce biggies Flipkart and Amazon are ready to set temperatures soaring with heavy discounts. Both the etailers have planned a big sale event where customers can grab discounts of up to 80%!
Flipkart’s ‘We’re turning 10’ Sale

This would be Flipkart’s first big shopping event after purchasing eBay India and raising $1.4 billion. The etailer would offer discounts as high as 80% on a wide range of products and big brands. In addition, this is also rare 5-day sale besides Flipkart’s annual Big Billion sale.

How can Amazon be far behind?
The American ecommerce leader Amazon is one step ahead of Flipkart as it is going to host ‘Great Indian Sale’ before Flipkart’s 10th year celebration. The etailer’s sale would start on May 11th and would continue till May 14th, the day its rival’s shopping extravaganza would commence.
Speaking about Amazon’s Great Indian Sale, a seller revealed, “Maximum focus on will be smartphones, televisions, consumer electronics, fashion and accessories. Amazon’s discounting will be widespread across categories.”

Are sellers looking forward to these sales?
Big discount & deals on online marketplaces always attracts millions of customers. As a result, sellers get an opportunity to increase their revenue and empty their stock.
Amazon and Flipkart both have instructed vendors to be ready for their respective sales and offer discounts. According to sellers, the ecommerce biggies would reimburse a portion of their money by slashing down marketplace commissions. But would it be enough?
According to sellers’ body AIOVA, it isn’t. The lobby group believes that marketplaces’ own sellers and private brands would benefit from such sales, not third-party vendors.
“In fact, the sellers’ sales and margins are reducing due to predatory pricing by the sister companies and private labels of marketplaces. The government is sleeping over this matter despite our constant efforts,” said AIOVA’s spokesperson.
