Snapdeal clocks over 50% of its condom sale from Tier 3 cities

Snapdeal clocks over 50% of its condom sale from Tier 3 citiesBengaluru: Ecommerce marketplace Snapdeal said on Monday that nearly 56% of condom orders on its platform are coming from non-metros of the country. Mapping the revenue it earns from condom brands for National World Aids Day, Snapdeal announced that there has been a 30% increase in the sale of condoms from 2018.

Eight out of ten condom orders have been from Tier-3 cities such as Imphal, Ernakulam, Hissar, Udaipur, Shillong, Kanpur and Ahmednagar.

The company said in a press statement that its discreet shipping policy for sexual wellness products, access to variety and hesitation to purchase from an offline store, has been key drivers for growth in demand.

“Considering the continuing hesitation around the subject of sex and its education, people are still reluctant to purchase condoms from a store. Online marketplaces have become a go-to place as it provides discreet purchase, which has led to increasing volumes,” said a Snapdeal spokesperson.

The marketplace, which has five lakh registered sellers, noted Durex, Kamasutra, Kohinoor and Manforce as popular condom brands on its platform.
